NR-1 Submarine Model Kit – 1:72 Scale

About the Model:

NR-1 was a deep sea research and recovery vessel developed by Admiral Hymen G. Rickover. The submarine was unique in many ways, most noteably that it was designed to be towed out to it’s area of operation by a mothership. Once there, it would descend to the sea floor, where it would use wheels to roll across the ocean’s surface. NR-1 was used in many secret and classified recovery operations. Making use of the tools at it’s disposal, NR-1 could use robotic limbs to pick objects off of the sea floor. One of the most notable and publicly released missions was during  STS-51-L, when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded shortly after takeoff. Each NR-1 kit is built to order. We require an extended handling period to cast your parts and process your order to get it shipped out to you. At least 2-4 weeks.
