The Los Angeles class submarine was the Navy’s answer to the aging Sturgeon class submarines. The 688-I packs a mean, multi-role punch. Most notably, it can be equipped to carry Torpedo’s, Tomahawk Cruise missiles, and Harpoon Anti-Surface Vessel missiles. Despite being built across multiple decades, these ships have been updated to modern standards. Versions of the ship are designated as “Flights”, of which the 688-I has three.
